The City of Albany is a member of New York State's Climate Smart Communities. The City also recently completed an vulnerability assessment and adaptation plan. As a planner for the City and the head of the Office of Energy & Sustainability, my role is to work on projects that will advance sustainability within Albany. I mostly work on projects that will help reduce ghg's or improve livability, but I also look at how the City can best prepare for climate change. Albany is currently redoing its zoning codes city-wide and I want to make sure that any plans regarding the low-lying downtown area along the Hudson River appropriately accommodate projected flooding and storm events.
